Britam Rwanda Team Gathered at the Kigali Genocide Memorial to Mark the Solemn Occasion
On May 23, 2024, the Britam Rwanda team gathered at the Kigali Genocide Memorial to mark the solemn occasion of the 30th commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Honoring the victims and reaffirming the commitment to never forget.
The commemorative event commenced with a guided tour of the Kigali Genocide Memorial, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of the atrocities that transpired. After that, we honored the memory of the victims by laying wreaths at the memorial site. We then gathered for various speeches, including a moving testimony from a survivor of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, followed by insightful dialogue and guidance led by Mr. Athanase, a representative from GAERG. His speech shed light on the systematic preparation of the genocide and highlighted the enduring mental health challenges faced by survivors even three decades later.
Our CEO, Mr. Andrew Kulayige, delivered a message of comfort and resilience to our team, emphasizing the importance of always remembering, uniting, and striving for the continued development of our nation. In a symbolic gesture of support, the CEO and the Executive Committee made a donation to the memorial's fund, further contributing to the preservation of its legacy.
As we reflect on this solemn occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to the values of Remember, Unit, Renew- #Twibuke Twiyubaka.
